Veltri named Carroll men's associate head basketball coach
Carroll College men's head basketball coach Gary Turcott knew he had made the right decision immediately after hiring Brandon Veltri five years ago.
"When I interviewed him for the job I just knew that he had a great work ethic, honesty and integrity. Those were the things I was looking for," Turcott said. "I knew he'd learn the rest."
And he has. On Wednesday, Veltri was promoted from an assistant to associate head coach by Carroll Athletic Director Bruce Parker. Story
2008 Soccer Schools Still Have Room
Coach Thorvilson announced that there is still room to register for both the boys and girls soccer camps. Although the June 15th deadline has passed for the girls camp late applications will still be accepted. Conformation letters and the daily schedule will be mailed out the week of June 23rd. Carroll College cagers sign transfer
Carroll College head men's basketball coach Gary Turcott announced that Gerad Moser, a 5-foot-11 guard from South Puget Sound Community College, will join the Carroll College men's basketball program next season.
Moser was a key player at SPSCC this past season as a true freshman, averaging over 30 minutes and 7.5 points per game. Story
Carroll claims all-sports trophy
Carroll College has claimed the 2007-2008 George Bandy Memorial All Sports Trophy in the Frontier Conference.
The award is presented each year to the school that accumulates the points based upon the league finish in each conference sport.
Nine colleges were in the running for the 2007-08 Bandy Award. Carroll College led the way with 111 points. Lewis-Clark State place second with 109 points while Rocky Mountain College was third with 84 points. Story
Slayton, Cifala lead Carroll at golf Regionals
Emily Slayton shot a 39-over par 255 to tie for 22nd place and lead the Carroll College women’s golf team to a sixth place finish in the NAIA Region I golf tournament in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, on Tuesday.
The Saints women finished with a team score of 216-over par 1,080.
The men, who were led by Andrew Cifala’s 17-over par 233, good for 30th place, finished the tournament in 10th place with a team score of 92-over par 956. Story
Cascade basketball player signs with Saints
Carroll College women’s basketball coach Shawn Nelson has announced the signing of Jackie Gebhardt of Cascade.
The 5-foot-9 Gebhardt was a two-time Class B all-state player, is Cascade’s all-time assists leader and is just the second player in school history to score over 1,000 points in a career.
Nelson says Gebhardt brings a tenacity and energy to the team, especially on defense.
Saints football ranked No. 1 in spring poll
In the second ever National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Football Top 25 Spring Coaches' Poll, Carroll ends their spring practice session as No. 1, announced Monday.
The Fighting Saints snapped the 27-game winning streak of then undefeated and No. 1 Sioux Falls (S.D.) in the 2007 National Championship to finish 15-0. Carroll received all 16 of the possible first-place votes and recorded 400 total points. Story
DenHerder named Carroll's weightlifter of the year
Nearly 3 1/2 years ago, Luke DenHerder lay in a hospital bed weighing just 157 pounds.
Since making a full recovery from non-Hodgkins Burkitts lymphoma, a type of cancer that attacks the body’s immune system, Carroll College’s sophomore offensive lineman has bulked back up to strength.
The Saints announced last week that DenHerder was named the football team’s weightlifter of the year. Story
Carroll's Fuzesy breaks national record
A little over four years ago Jolene Fuzesy came to Carroll College with the tag of “pure shooter.” Two weeks ago she completed her college career with a slight change to that label, “purest shooter.”
Fuzesy, who came to Helena after prepping at Havre and Malta, finished her college career with 464 made 3-point field goals on 899 attempts. That calculates to a career percentage of 51.6, which is a record in NAIA and NCAA basketball for men and women. That moves her ahead of the previous mark of 51.3 set by Scott Martin (236 of 460) of NCAA Division II Rollins College. Ballin
