Junior Emily Slayton tied for 5th place in the second tournament of the year shooting scores of (77-82-77) at the Rocky Mountain College Invitational. Sophomore Meghan Innes was the second leading Saint shooting scores of (82-89-81). As a team the Saints women finished in 4th place behind NCAA Division II MSU-Billings and fellow conference teams LC State and Rocky Mountain. Rocky Mountain swept both the men's and women's team titles for the second conference tournament in a row. On the men's side the Saints were again led by sophomore Jim Mee. Jim fired a (-1) under par tournament total good for 8th place overall in the 54-hole event. (72-70-70). Senior Tanner Sutton (Billings, MT) was the next leading Saint golfer shooting rounds of (70-73-74.) Junior Ben McIsaac and freshman Ben Ternes also had rounds under par for the Saints who shot their best team tournament scores in school history. The Saints shot rounds of 289-288-286 as a team. Their third round team total was just +2 strokes over par. After two conference tournaments the Saints golf teams sit in 3rd place overall in men's and women's conference standings.

Homecoming week is underway at Carroll College with the completion of the Carroll College Frontier Conference golf tournament at Green Meadow Country Club. Emily Slayton led the way for the Saints finishing in 3rd place overall. On the men's side Jim Mee took 9th. Rocky Mountain College swept both team titles. A frost delay on day one led to the second round being suspended by darkness. Tuesday saw the finish of the second round and then the completion of the final 18 holes to complete the 54 hole event. Casey Smith (Tekoa, WA) finished in 12th place and had a very solid tournament for the Saints. "Casey has been playing well and it is carrying over to tournament play," said Coach MacIntyre. Also impressing in her first college tournament was Chelsie Moquist (Anaconda, MT) a freshman who finished in 17th place and kept all her rounds in the 80's. Also in the top 20 on the men's side was Carroll junior Ben McIsaac (Ontario, Canada) and freshman Ben Ternes (Helena, MT) "Emily had a great tournament and improved a little each round, she is going to be contending week in and week out in the conference." Coach MacIntyre and the Saints will be on the road this Saturday when they head to Billings, MT for the Rocky Mountain College Invitational.
MacIntyre sank his first career hole-in-one on the 16th hole at Bill Roberts Golf Course.
The hole was playing 155 yards and MacIntyre used a pitching wedge.
MacIntyre, who was playing with Jon Pallister, Jeff Pallister and Zach Pallister, shot a 73 for the tournament to place third in the Amateur Gross Flight 1 division for golfers with a handicap of 0-12.

Capital High standout athlete Ben Ternes has signed a letter of intent to join the Carroll College golf team this upcoming fall, Saints head coach Bennett MacIntyre announced on Tuesday.
The two-time Capital High team MVP took second place this past year at the Montana AA golf tournament, shooting a 1-under-par 141 at the Green Meadow Country Club, earning all-state golf honors. He was also a second-team all-state basketball player his senior year.
"Ben is the type of athlete who will put in the extra time to practice," MacIntyre said. "When you have people like that who are driven in your program, it makes everyone else better." Story
Head coach Bennett MacIntyre announced that 10 Saint golfers recieved All-Conference Academic Awards in the sport of golf. Adam Benson, Matthew Sewell, Tanner Sutton, Andrew Cifala, Allen Johnson, Ben McIsaac, Kelsey Bjelland, Casey Smith, Emily Slayton, and Stephanie Martinez. In the fall of the 08-09 academic year the women's golf team had the highest GPA average out of all the athletic teams at Carroll College.
Carroll golfers will finally get to see some live action this upcoming Monday and Tuesday at the Lewis and Clark-State Invitational golf tournament. It is the fourth of six conference tournaments and the continuation of the tournaments from this past fall. The Saints are in 3rd place in the women's standings and 4th on the men's side.
Carroll College will be led by Emily Slayton and Meghan Innes this spring. Emily (sophomore) is currently ranked #9 in the conference and holds an 83.3 stroke average. Meghan (freshman) has a 84.9 stroke average and is in 12th place in the Frontier Conference. The Saints have all five varsity golfers in the top 21 places in the conference. Others making the trip over the Easter holiday include Stephanie Martinez, Casey Smith, Matea daRosa and Ariana McElrath.
On the men's side, the Saints will be without junior Tanner Sutton for the third consecutive spring season. (Study Abroad) Senior Adam Benson will get the start in his place to start off the spring. Carroll will be led by freshman standout Jim Mee who is in fifth place in the conference with a 72.7 scoring average. Senior Marcus Geer (75.4) and sophomore Ben McIsaac (75.7) add depth. Sophomore Matt Sewell sits just outside the top 20 in the conference with a 76.8 stroke average. Also making the trip will be senior Andrew Cifala.
Two Carroll College golfers were in contention for tournament victories at the Westminster College Invitational in Salt Lake City, Utah on Monday and Tuesday. Freshman Jim Mee (Libby, MT) started the final round 18 holes two strokes back in search of his first collegiate tournament victory. Mid way through the round he was at the top of the leaderboard before a few double-bogey's had him finishing in 3rd place, his highest finish as a collegiate golfer. Sophomore Emily Slayton was tied for first place overnight heading in the final round. A final round 81 had her tied at 3rd. As a team, Carroll College men finished in 4th place while the women finished in 3rd. After the first round on the women's side Carroll College was sitting in 2nd place just 7 strokes behind LC State. It was the first time Carroll College has beat Rocky Mountain College after 18 holes. "LC State and Rocky are the powers in the conference that are consistently ranked in the top 20 in the country," said Coach MacIntyre, "It's a great step for our young program to be competing like this, Emily and Jim played really well and battled."
The Frontier Conference holds six tournaments during the year - three in the spring and three in the fall - and the team scores are added from each tournament to determine the overall winner. On the women's side with only one 54-hole event left at Great Falls, Mont., next Monday and Tuesday, LCSC trails Rocky Mountain by 17 strokes in what is a two-team race for the title. Carroll is 379 shots behind Rocky Mountain and in third place. The Carroll College men have all but locked up 4th place in the conference and trail Montana Tech by 67 strokes for 3rd. LC State leads Rocky by 57 shots for
1st place.
Snow wiped out the final round 54 hole conference tournament (6th of the year) at the University of Great Falls Invitational on Monday and Tuesday April 27-28. Carroll College was able to get in the practice round on Sunday before a winter storm swept through the hi-line part of the state. Lewis-Clark State wins the men's conference championship while Rocky Mountain College captures the women. Both squads will recieve the conference auto-bid to the NAIA national championships in May. LC State women are also expected to recieve an at-large bid win the pairings are announced on Friday. Carroll College finishes the season in 3rd place (women) and 4th place (men). There are 8 Frontier Conference schools.
The Lewis-Clark State College men and the Rocky Mountain College women both hung on to win team titles on Tuesday during LCSC's portion of the Frontier Conference Tournament, which was held at the Lewiston Country Club Monday and Tuesday, April 13-14. Blistery cold temperatures with wind had the scoring up on the first day 36-holes. Carroll College freshman Meghan Innes and sophomore Emily Slayton both cracked the top 10 firing a 256 (85.3 average) and 258 score respectively. On the men's side the Saints were led by sophomore Matt Sewell with a (82-78-78.) Senior Andrew Cifala also played well as an individual and will be making a varsity start next week in Salt Lake City. Carroll men finished the tournament in 4th place, just three shots back of Montana Tech. The lady Saints took 3rd place overall. Carroll College will be back in action on April 20-21 at the Wingpointe Golf Club in Salt Lake City, Utah hosted by Westminster College.
Kelsey Bjelland, Casey Smith, Adam Benson and John Beltrone were all named to the All-Conference Academic Team in the sport of golf. This past spring, eight golfers were named to the Dean's List at Carroll College. In the fall the women's golf team had the highest overall GPA for all the athletic teams at Carroll College with an average GPA over 3.5!
Carroll's golf program started in 1998 for the women and in 1999, a men's team was organized. Ray Hunthausen, golf professional at Green Meadow Country Club was the coach. From 2000-2006 Carroll alum Bill Lannan was the coach. In the Spring of 2006, Bennett MacIntyre became the third coach in the program.
