ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Hannah Young scored a pair of second-half goals as the Carroll College women's soccer team defeated Roberts Wesleyan College 2-1 in a nonconference game on Monday night.

"We played a really good second half," Carroll coach Dave Thorvilson said. "It was a good, even first half. But we were the much better team in the second-half."

Young opened the scoring in the 66 th minute. After Roberts had tied the contest in the 70 th minute, Young provided the game-winner, taking a pass from Tayt Ellison and beating the Raider netminder in the far left corner of the net for her sixth goal of the season.

"We're in a good place," Thorvilson said. "Now that we're in the second half of the season, I think the girls have started to refocus."

Carroll (7-3-1) will travel 90 minutes south today and face 22nd-ranked Houghton College in a game that was rescheduled from Saturday because of the Saints' travel problems.

The Saints were originally scheduled to fly from Helena to Rochester via Minneapolis. But the plane leaving Minneapolis for Helena has mechanical problems. The team bused to Great Falls and eventually flew into Minneapolis late Friday night. After an unplanned overnight stay, the Saints flew from Minneapolis to Rochester on Saturday morning, arriving too late for the scheduled 2 p.m. EDT start. So that game was rescheduled for 5 p.m. MDT today.

"After a long trip, I'm really happy that we came away with a win," Thorvilson said.

Game statistics were not readily available.
