Saints women drop third straight game

The floor in the Carroll College P.E. Center is going to take a pounding as both basketball squads spend this weekend at home.
The Saints' men, who went 2-2 in their exhibition games, open their regular season against MidAmerica Nazarene today in a rare 4 p.m. start.
It will be the second game of the Carroll Classic, an invitational that includes Embry Riddle (Fla.) and the University of Montana Western. The Saints play Embry Riddle Saturday at 8 p.m. Story
Saints stun Eagles in opener
Though they started the season off with a win, things couldn’t have gone worse for the Carroll College women’s basketball team Friday night.
The Saints lost starting 6-foot junior post Hannah Heidenreich to an undisclosed knee injury before their game with the Northwest Eagles even started. Carroll won the contest 83-65. more
Carroll women open at No. 8
The Carroll College women’s basketball team will open the season this weekend as the No. 8 team in the nation.
The Union University (Tenn.) team is the favorite in the 2008-09 NAIA Division I Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 Preseason Poll. The Lady Bulldogs received nine first place votes and 279 total points.
The 2007-08 National Champion, Vanguard (Calif.) received the other three first place votes and compiled 274 total points for the second spot. Story
Carroll women make the grade
Now the Carroll College women's basketball team can say they aren't just one of the top 10 teams in the nation athletically, but also academically.
The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) announced its winners for the 2007-08 Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll Monday and the Saints made their way onto the list, filling out the No. 9 spot with an average GPA of 3.54.
The Saints, who finished last season 27-6 and made it to the NAIA Division I national tournament's "Elite Eight," are one of only two teams that were top 10 on both the list and in the tournament bracket. Only Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.), who came in on the list just below Carroll at No. 10, was a Division I school to also make it to the quarterfinal round. Story
Carroll women sign two basketball players
The Carroll College women's basketball program has added two new recruits to their list of 2008 signees.
Junior college standout Sarah McNamee of Miles City Community College and Kirstin King of Anaconda High School added their names to the roster announced head coach Shawn Nelson on Monday. Story
