Resident Technical Assistant (RTA)

RTA's are students living in the community halls who are available to help other students with questions about ResNet connections, general computer questions and cable TV troubleshooting. The RTA's work as a team to assist each other with providing technical support to their fellow student on campus. In addition to answering questions and connecting computers to the network, RTA's will work within the residence halls to offer training and programs that assist students with becoming more technically proficient. Carroll RTA's will strive to offer quality support in a timely manner.

Job Responsibilities:
Attend RTA training the week before school starts
Staff freshman orientation booth at the start of school
Assist students with the connecting personal computer systems to campus residential network (ResNet)
Assist students with keeping windows updates installed, virus updates completed and spyware problems under control
Maintain and organize the computer labs in residence hall
Work as a team with other RTA's to provide technical support
Coordinate with other RTA's to ensure weekends are covered
Check phone messages throughout the day
Respond to calls within 24 hours
Communicate to Community Assistants (CA's) programs and support offered as well as any issues that may arise
Attend floor meeting on each floor once a semester
Turn in a weekly Help Line report to CCIT
Time requirements: approximately 10 to 15 hours per week on average
