Federal Pell Grant

Federal grant awarded to high need students.  The maximum award is $4,731 per year for the 08-09 academic year.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)

Federal grant with priority given to Federal Pell Grant eligible students.  Average award is $500 per year.

Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG)

Awarded to U.S. Citizens who are full time (12 credits), Federal Pell Grant recipients who have completed a rigorous secondary program of study and are in their first or second year of college.  The maximum award for first year students is $750 per year.  Second year students maximum award is $1,300 per year.  Students must maintain at least a 3.0 GPA to be eligible for the second year ACG. 

National Science Mathematics Access to Retain Talent Grant (SMART)

$4,000 per year awarded to U.S. Citizens who are full time (12 credits), Federal Pell Grant recipients.  Awarded to third and fourth year students who are majoring in physical, life, or computer science, engineering, mathematics, technology, or a critical foreign language.  Students must maintain a 3.0 GPA to be eligible. 

Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH)

$4,000 per year non-need Federal grant awarded to U.S. citizens majoring in education who intend to teach in a public or private elementary or secondary school that serves students from low-income families. Students must be formally accepted into the Carroll College Education Program. In exchange for receiving a TEACH Grant, students must teach for at least four academic years within eight calendar years of completing the program of study.  Failure to complete the four year teaching requirement will result in TEACH Grant funds being converted to a Federal Direct Unsubsidized Stafford Loan.  Students must score above the 75th percentile on a college admission test or maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher to be eligible.

If you meet the eligibility requirements, you will receive a letter from the Financial Aid Office indicating your next steps:

Complete TEACH grant entrance counseling here.  Students must complete entrance counseling each year before receiving a TEACH grant.

Complete the Agreement to Serve here.  Students must complete an Agreement to Serve each year before receiving a TEACH grant.

If you qualify and you have completed the entrance counseling and Agreement to Serve, an official award offer will be sent to you.  You will need to accept the award on-line to receive disbursement of the grant.
