Glossary and benchmarks
Library materials: Monographs, periodicals, audiovisuals, government documents, CD-ROMs and archival items owned by the library. As of June 2003 the approximate size of the library materials collection is 92,000 titles.
In-house journal collection: Those periodicals, whether paper, microform CD-ROM or electronic which are owned by the library. The size of the in-house journal collection is 650 titles. The back issue holdings in microform/CD-ROM represent 15% of the active in-house journal collection.
OPAC: The library joined the OMNI group in May 2003 and went live with SIRSI in May 2003. Prior to this the library was with Gaylord/Galaxy (1996-2003) and with CMDS 1993-1996.
Wide Area Network: A wide area network (WAN) is one that will reside on the Carroll campus-wide network.
Retrospective conversion: Retrospective conversion (Recon) is the capturing of the cataloging record in machine-readable format. As of March 2003, there are approximately 2,000 titles needing recon (Library of Congress classes P and Q).
Information Desk: A recognizable location where library users may go for reference service. Unassigned reference librarians were in the building an average of 70% of weekly hours open Fall 1997.
Collection Management Policy: Written following guidelines from the Montana State Library. Last reviewed 2001.
Library Website: A World Wide Web site for the Library was introduced in Spring 1997.
Entry Doors: Electric doors were installed on the east outer door of the main entrance in 1988.

EN 102 Library Research Component was beta tested in one section Spring 2000 and was integrated into every EN102 section Summer 2000.
User Seating: 223 seats were available in student general use areas of the library Spring 2003.
Senior Seminars: Beginning Fall 1997 Semester presentations were made to the senior research seminars in History, Communications, Nursing, and International Relations.
