Exercise 1 - Corette Library Tour Section __________
This exercise is designed to help you become more familiar with the Corette Library's basic resources and where to find them, both in the building and online.
Note: A Library of Congress call number indicates the general subject of the book, periodical or other material.
1. Begin at the Information Desk. If you need help with a research question and no one is at the Information Desk, please ask at the Circulation Desk, near the library entrance, to see if a reference librarian is available. Observe the “Ready Reference” collection behind the Information Desk. This is where you will find some frequently used books, such as citation guides.
2. Go to the Circulation Desk. If not already done, have your student ID bar-coded so you may check out library materials.
A bar coded ID is required to use "reserve material" in the Library
“Reserve material" is organized by professor’s name, then course number.
3. Go to the Reference collection (the shelves directly in front of you when you enter the Library). Note the Library of Congress call numbers on the book spines, and what subjects are cataloged under the letters of the alphabet. Consult the handout "How To Find A Book" and browse in a subject section of interest to you. Locate a book in that section and record below the complete call number and title
