| Goal | In accordance with the Carroll College Mission Statement, the Library Research Skills Component of English 102 will prepare students to effectively find and evaluate information, and plan and conduct library research. | |
| Objectives | Demonstrate the ability to critically evaluate and distinguish different levels of information. Demonstrate the ability to use library catalogs and databases; Become familiar with library classification systems; Develop research methodology skills; Demonstrate the ability to select appropriate resources Document information sources using standard style manuals | |

| Assignments | For sessions 1-5 take-home exercises will be assigned. Sessions 1-5 will be assigned homework. The assignments will be due by the next class. A separate handout explains the major assignment of this component, an annotated bibliography. During the wrap-up session you will be asked to share with the class an exceptional resource you discovered through your research. | |

| Grading
Your grade for this component of EN102 will be based upon 100%. The breakdown will be as follows: Completion of weekly assignments (5) 525. No homework will be accepted late 951-856- A 855-761 - B 760-666 - C 665-571 - D 570-0 - F The annotated bibliography is due on Friday NOVEMBER 2 by midnight. No bibliography will be accepted late. All annotated bibliographies must be submitted via www.turnitin.com. How to use Turnitin. Final grades will be submitted to your EN102 instructor. The work that you do for the library research component of EN 102 is worth 15% of your final EN102 grade. Academic integrity. Do your own work.
