Hunthausen Award
Do You Know A Student Who Should Be Recognized
For Community Service Contributions?
Rosalie Walsh, Chairperson, Hunthausen Award Committee
We're seeking to acknowledge students who exhibit a commitment to community. Many Carroll College students donate volunteer time for a multitude of projects, social service and social justice causes, and we want to hear about them!
Since 1986 Carroll College has presented the Raymond G. Hunthausen Award for Community Service to deserving students who make outstanding contributions to the college or a community (Helena or other).
The award was named for Archbishop Hunthausen because of his own commitment to peace and justice in his personal life and in his work with the Catholic Church.
Each year, when the selection committee sits down to select the recipients for award, we look for those students who go about quietly serving others with no thought of remuneration, no thought of being singled out for recognition. We seek those individuals who exhibit a sense of commitment to others, for the goal of assisting and giving to others from their own personal sense of unselfish service.
All Carroll students are eligible. The guidelines are: nominations can be by self, peer, faculty/staff, or by someone from the community in which the effort is/was performed; all students with a minimum of 2.0 are eligible. Paid positions are less likely to be considered than volunteer effort.
Nominations forms are available in Career & Testing Services, or electronically from Rosie Walsh at rwalsh -is-at- carroll -dot- edu
We want to make sure that every deserving student has a chance to be selected for this award. Please be thinking about those of your peers that you may wish to nominate, and "talk it up" among your friends. I am requesting your assistance in identifying students who merit recognition for their activities that fit the criteria established for this award.
Deadline date for receiving completed nomination forms is the Friday prior to Spring Break, this year, Friday, March 6, 2009. Certificates will be presented to each recipient at the annual Honors Convocation in April
Get your Yearbook
The Year Book is back!
Faculty, Staff, and Students - Sign up for your Yearbook now!
If you did not already know, the Hilltopper was Carroll's Yearbook in years past and now it is back just in time for our Centennial.
On Wednesday August 27th, at the annual Club Fair held in the Upper Cube from 6-8 pm you can make a $10 deposit to reserve your Yearbook and by ordering early we will personalize it for you!
It will be a huge benefit to you and us if you sign up early for your Yearbook. If we can get at least 300 people to sign up early this will enable us to add pages and quality to the book. It also could lower the cost of your Yearbook. We estimate the cost at around $60.00 but it could be as low as $50.00. Your early order will help increase the quality of our book and possibly drop the price. That is what we call a "Win, Win" situation.
So do yourself and us a favor and sign up for your Yearbook on Wednesday night.
It'll be an exciting night for the Yearbook and its staff, so I hope to see you there!!!
Thanks, Robyn Swaney - CC Year Book Editor

As You Like It - Audition prompts
Name # scn Role Description/Relationships My early thoughts about qualities
MenDuke Sr. 3 Sup exiled and philosophical mature and have leadership
Duke Fred 4 Ant usurper of Duchy nervous and brittle
Oliver DB 5 Ant Eldest brother to Orl Greedy and cruel, but transformed
Jacques DB 1 Sup Middle brother to Orl He is a messenger
Orlando DB 9 Pro Youngest brother wronged, heroic, in love, brave
Amiens 4 Sup exiled lord in Arden wise and kind
Jacques 7 Neu exiled lord in Arden melancholy and poetic
Charles 2 Ant Wrestler for Duke Fred big, old style wrestler, not ECW
Touchstone 7 Com The fool in this play One of Shakespeares' best fools ever
Silvius 5 Com shepherd in love with Phoebe kind of a country bumpkin
William 1 Com shepherd, dull of wit foil for Touch, double as Charles
Women
Rosalind 11 Pro Daughter to Sr., Smitten by Orl adventurous and witty/Tall
Celia 9 Pro Daughter to Fred, Smitten by Oliv/sweet, loving, witty with an edge
Phoebe 3 Com Shepherdess, smitten by Ros Scornful & sarcastic, then pitiful
Audrey 4 Com shepherdess courted by Touch beautiful and wise, common-sense
Either Gender
Adam/Eve 4 Pro loyal servant to DB Family rescues Orl from plot of Oliv
Corin/Corinne 3 Sup Old wise Shepherd/ess folksy foil for Touchstone
Lord/Lady Court5 Sup Support for Fred observers and commentators
Lord/Lady Court5 Sup Support for Fred observers and commentators
Lord/Lady Arden4 Sup Support for Senior observers and commentators
Lord/Lady Arden4 Sup Support for Senior observers and commentators
Both or neither
Le Beau 1 Sup court fop gay and good-hearted
Mar-Text 1 Com a country vicar foil for Touch, triple as LeBeau/Hy
Hymen 1 Sup God of Marriage! triple as Le Beau, Mar-Text
Other thoughts:
This play is a gender bender and city vs country romp. Bring a sense of fun to the auditions.
Relationships are as important as the poetry.
Adam/Corin or Eve/Corinne could double depending on who and how many show at auditions.
Lord/Ladies can't really double, because of changes (but could be hilarious if we could pull it off), I will be looking for improv skills in these four.
