The funeral for Pauline Semmens, spouse of retired Carroll faculty member Jack Semmens, was held this week at the Cathedral of St. Helena. Her memorial card described her as "a woman of deep and abiding faith, devoted to the Catholic Church and a life of prayer."
Her family chose to share her daily prayer with those who gathered to celebrate Pauline's life. I thought our Carroll community would appreciate the words:
Holy Spirit--you who makes me see everything and shows me the way to reach my ideal. You who gives me the divine gift to forgive and forget the wrongs that are done to me. And you who in all instances of my life are with me. I, in this short dialogue, want to thank you for everything and confirm once more that I never want to be separated from you no matter how great the material desires may be. Thank you for your love towards me and my loved ones. I want to be with you and my loved ones in your perpetual glory. Amen.
May her soul, and the souls of all of the faithfully departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. JDH
